You keep your current power supplier (for your physical supply) and through the renewable power certificates you are assured that green electricity has been produced to cover your company’s consumption.
Green power is a bit more expensive than the normal dirty power you get off the grid. For the upgrade you pay only the difference.

When electricity is produced, it is injected onto a the large network of electric cables called the grid. That is how, in Europe, all electric transportation and distribution systems are interconnected. In the US, the principle is the same by large regions.
Thanks to this network countries engage in export and import across borders to optimize the use of the existing power production capacities. That is also how the countries with large green power production can export the green electrons to the other countries and thus contribute to minimize local dirty production.
To prove the origin of the electricity, Europe and the US have created a system called Renewable Energy Certificates. Like for food, it allows customers to know where and how the electricity was produced. As you can note measure what come out of your wall socket, the only way to document your green power consumption is through these certificates issued by the power producer.
